Dramatic police operation at Bengaluru pub after armed intruder breaks in, steals cash, and flees, leaving mystery behind.
High drama ensued as armed Quick Response Teams (QRTs) from the Bengaluru City Police surrounded a three-storeyed building that houses the Geometry Brewery and Kitchen, after its security guard alerted the police that he had locked up an intruder armed with a firearm inside the building, near the Malleshwaram 17th Cross Bridge, Subramanya Nagar in the wee hours of Monday (May 12, 2025).
The security guard of the Geometry Brewery and Kitchen called the police helpline 112 at 4:03 a.m. saying there was an intruder on the third floor of the building and when he went to check, he was “shown a firearm”, following which he ran down and locked the doors of the pub and called the police.
After multiple hours of operations overseen by Saidulu Adavath, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division), Bengaluru City Police, in which each room of the building was checked, the police found no sign of an intruder still present in the building. The suspect seems to have fled by the time the police arrived, sources said.
Vikas Kumar Vikas, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), Bengaluru City Police, said the security guard claimed to have seen a man dressed in black, wearing gloves, mask and brandishing a pistol, intruding on the third floor of the building. He is said to have switched on the light in the manager’s room alerting the guard. “CCTV footage from the building also shows some movement initially, but they have not been recorded later,” he said.
Further investigation pointed out that the intruder entered the premises breaking open the back door, made his way to the brewery office on the third floor, damaged a few CCTV cameras and made away with cash of around ₹50,000 from the cashbox.
“An intrusion and theft have been confirmed. The intruder seems to have come in and gone out through the back door which he has broken open. The way he has gone to the third floor where cash is usually kept has raised some suspicions. Also, the security guard says he was shown a weapon that looked like a pistol. Whether the intruder was armed with a firearm or not is yet to be confirmed,” a senior police official said.
Subramanya Nagar Police are waiting for the owners of the pub to lodge a complaint. However, they have already begun analysing footage from CCTV cameras in and around the area for leads on the intruder’s identity.
