Reaction to Operation Sindoor after Pahalgam terror attack, civil defence drills in Visakhapatnam, and war-time preparations discussed.
“I am happy to see that the nation is with us.” This was the first reaction of J. Nagamani, whose husband J.S. Chandramouli who died in the Pahalgam terror attack, to the Operation Sindoor, on Wednesday.
J.S. Chandramouli, a former officer of State Bank of India, was among the 26 tourists who were killed by the terrorists at Baisaran in Pahalgam on April 22.
Yet to overcome her grief, Ms. Nagamani was glued to the television set since morning to updates on Operation Sindoor, a cross-border operation undertaken by Indian armed forces in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
B. Nageswara Rao, brother-in-law of Chandramouli and an officer in the Anti-Corruption of Bureau of Andhra Pradesh Police, shared a similar observation.
“We had enough of cross-border terrorism. Hundreds of civilians and security personnel have lost their lives over the years in various terror attacks. It is time for a befitting reply. We are happy that action has been taken. They (terrorists) should realise that they have to pay a price for their inhuman acts. Now, we (India) must see that such incidents are not repeated,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam district administration conducted civil defence mock drills with the help of NDRF, NCC and NSS on Wednesday, as part of the nationwide exercise.
Explaining about the mock drills and blackout scenarios, Col. Tapas Mandal, Commanding Officer 2(A) CTR NCC, said mock drills are part of the exercises designed to make civilians aware of what they should do during a war situation.
