Great Indian Cyclothon concludes in Kanniyakumari

The Great Indian Cyclothon promotes coastal security and conservation, covering 6,553 km across 11 states in 25 days.
The “Great Indian Cyclothon” , a landmark initiative themed “Surakshit Tat Samriddh Bharat” (Secured Cosat, Prosperous India) concluded at Kanniyakumri on Monday.
The rally which was flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on March 7, 2025 from the Rajaditya Chola CISF Regional Training Centre at Thakkolam in Ranipet district, covered 6,553 kilometers along both west and east coast of India. Over a span of 25 days, 125 cyclists travelled 11 States and union territories, spreading awareness about coastal security and conservation.
The cyclothon was organised to create awareness among the coastal communities about security threats confronting India’s coastline, including the illicit activities of smuggling, need for vigilance against intrusion and the importance of conservation of these ecologically sensitive zones. Throughout the journey the cyclists engaged with 58 coastal communities, fostering awareness on these crucial issues.
The participants were warmly welcomed by officers and locals with cultural programmes and enthusiastic cheers, marking a grand conclusion of this awareness initiative.
