District in-charge Secretary for Dharwad Ram Prasat Manohar has called upon officials to show commitment in their work and play proactive roles in the development of the district by ensuring that sanctioned funds did not lapse.
Chairing a progress review meeting in Dharwad on Thursday, Mr. Manohar also issued a warning to the officials saying that those who failed to discharge their responsibilities properly would have to face action. “There will be a strict monitoring mechanism in place. If funds get lapsed, the concerned official will be held responsible,” he said.
The secretary added that the ground staff should continuously apprise senior officials of the progress and complete tasks in a time bound manner with their guidance. District-level officials too should also keep track of the status of the works for they would be held accountable in case of any shortcomings or delay, he said.
He asked the officials to focus on small and medium farmers while implementing government welfare programmes. Apart from creating awareness on crop insurance, steps should be taken to release compensation immediately to those who had availed the scheme, he said.
He mentioned that funds had already been released for repair of school and anganwadi buildings and asked the officials to expedite and complete the work by the end of December.
Taking the absence of some officials seriously, Mr. Manohar ordered for issue of showcause notices to NHAI executive engineer H.G. Gundalli, Minor Irrigation Assistant Executive Engineer Amrut Solanki and Large Irrigation Executive Engineer A. Murnal for not attending the review meeting without a valid reason.
Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad Divya Prabhu G.R.J., Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat Swaroopa T.K., HDMC Commissioner Ishwar Ullagaddi, and other officials participated in the meeting.
