Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with prayers, charity, and festivities in the city, bringing together Muslims in joy and unity.
Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were conducted peacefully in mosques and Eidgahs in the city on Monday and the religious festival was celebrated with pomp and gaiety across the city.
According to Muslim associations, around three lakh Muslims in the city broke their fast at 6.15 p.m. on Sunday (March 30) to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday as part of Ramzan.
“Muslims mostly live in the Kotaveedhi, Marripalem and Gajuwaka areas of the city. There are around 50 mosques in the city,” said Mohammad Habibul Rahman, a youth activist in Gajuwaka.
Mr. Rahman said that his community has actively been involved in charity work during the festive period. He said that as part of the festival, he also distributed 150 ration kits to the poor and needy, and the community actively participated in various religious gatherings, including Iftar parties, organised by the State government at the VMRDA Arena at Siripuram junction.
A large number of Muslims dressed in traditional attire attended special prayers held at mosques and dargahs. After the prayers, they hugged each other and wished ‘Eid Mubarak’.
Applying attar (perfume) and surma (kohl) to the eyes, tasting kheer (porridge) made from dried fruits and vermicelli, and enjoyed the taste of `Dum Biryani’ as part of the festival. They were also seen greeting people from all faiths, as part of the festival.

The Shakespeare Millennium Club in collaboration with the Annai Velankanni Church (Society of St. Vincent De Paul), conducted a Free Medical Camp on November 23, 2025 at the church premises from 9 am to 6 pm, with Dr. Samundi Sankari and Dr. Divya Sivaraman of Srushti Hospitals, Dr. Sharada L N of Aramba, the Kumaran Dental Clinic, Lychee and Satya Physiotherapy Centre, according to a press release.
