Don’t fall prey to fraudsters promising medical seats, says Minister

Medical Education Minister warns against fraudulent middlemen promising guaranteed medical seats, urging aspirants to follow official procedures to avoid scams.

Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil has appealed to medical seat aspirants and their parents not to fall prey to fraudulent middlemen offering shortcuts or guaranteed seats under any circumstances.

In a release here on Tuesday, Dr. Patil said that students who have studied hard and performed well in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), driven by their dream of becoming doctors, must not let anxiety over securing a seat force them to fall into the trap of fraudsters.

He warned that an increasing number of middlemen are falsely promising medical seats, claiming that they can get admission in certain colleges by leveraging their connections and influence, only to disappear later after cheating.

“Do not act in haste or anxiety to secure a seat in a top college. Middlemen are waiting to exploit the desperation of aspirants. Stay alert and avoid falling for such scams,” the Minister cautioned.

As many as 1,47,782 candidates registered for NEET in the State of which 1,42,369 appeared for the exam. Of these, 83,582 students qualified in the recently announced NEET results, he stated.

The Minister clarified that all seat allotments will be done in a systematic and transparent manner solely through the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). “Students and parents must strictly adhere to these official procedures,” Dr. Patil emphasized.

If anyone found misleading students or parents with false promises of securing them seats and cheating them, such middlemen will be identified and dealt with strictly as per law. The government will not tolerate with them playing with the future of students and parents. Stern action will be taken against such intermediaries, the Minister warned.
