Devarakonda Sujatha elected unanimously as Nellore Mayor amid absence of YSR Congress Party members during the council meeting.
Devarakonda Sujatha, 53rd Division Corporator, was unanimously elected as the new mayor of Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Thursday. However, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) members were absent during the council meeting.
As soon as the meeting began under the chairmanship of Presiding Officer and Joint Collector Mogili Venkateswarlu, the name of Devarakonda Sujatha was proposed as the mayoral candidate by in-charge Mayor Roop Kumar Yadav and other Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members supported it.
Following this, Ms. Sujatha was elected unanimously to the post. The Presiding Officer officially announced her name as the Mayor of the NMC due to lack of competition. Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, NMC Commissioner Y. O. Nandan and others were present on the occasion.
