Cyclone ‘Yaas’ to make landfall on Wednesday morning

It is likely to make the landfall between the Paradip coast in Odisha and Sagar Island in West Bengal
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Very Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Yaas’ will reach the north Odisha and West Bengal coasts by early morning of May 26 (Wednesday). The IMD’s earlier prediction was the cyclonic storm will cross the West Bengal and Odisha coasts by Wednesday evening. It is likely to make the landfall between the Paradip coast in Odisha and Sagar Island in West Bengal.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday pledged to mobilise people in resistance against the BJP-led Union government’s “anti-agricultural worker, anti-farmer, anti-worker, anti-people” laws and policies till they are all repealed, the party said on Friday. In a statement issued here, the CPI(M) said the members took the pledge following a three-day meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram.
