A loud explosion of a ‘cracker’ took place at a meeting of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday in his home district Nalanda. No one was injured in the explosion and the man who triggered the blast was arrested.
The explosion took place at a few metres away from where Mr. Kumar was addressing a gathering at a high school premises in Silao, 20 km away from the district headquarters of Nalanda, Biharsharief. No causality was, however, reported from the explosion site.
“The suspected carrier of the explosive has been identified as Subham Kumar and he has been arrested,” said Nalanda SP Ashok Mishra. “Prima facie it seems to be a fire cracker but further details will be available only after a thorough investigation.”
Earlier on March 27 too, a youth had punched Mr. Kumar during his visit to Bakhtiyarpur, near Patna, where he went to meet people and his old political associates.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
