The 76th Republic Day was celebrated in Yadgir and Raichur districts on Sunday.
Minister for Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises Sharanabasappa Darshanapur and Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil unfurled the national flag in the respective district headquarters.
They said that India didn’t have its own Constitution even after Independence. Then prominent leaders gave the responsibility to B.R. Ambedkar and the others to draft a Constitution.
Dr. Ambedkar studied the Constitutions of several countries and finally brought in a new Constitution applying it to the entire country. Thereafter, the Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949 by the Constituent Assembly of India. The Constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950 providing equal rights to all citizens irrespective of their caste and religion.
“The citizens of this country should adhere to the principles of the Constitution and live in the spirit of brotherhood for a peaceful life,” they said.
The Ministers stressed that the State government has been providing facilities to eligible beneficiaries under the guarantee schemes as promised before the Assembly elections. It will continue with the schemes, they added.
The government is keen on taking up development works in the Kalyan Karnataka region and it has already released ₹5,000 crore to KKRDB for the purpose.
