Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Saturday inaugurated the Government Law College at Karaikudi in Sivaganga district, along with other infrastructure projects, including Chettinad Agriculture College and Research Institute.
During the event, he unveiled 49 infrastructure projects worth ₹2,777.92 crore, laid foundation stone for 28 projects and distributed welfare measures to 15,453 beneficiaries. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Stalin said these projects were a testament to the ‘Dravidian Model’ of governance.
He said the new law college, a ₹100.45-crore project spread across 19.15 acres, was designed to house 1,300 students and the campus featured sophisticated moot court hall, digital libraries, and modern residential facilities.
He opened the new buildings of Chettinad Agriculture College and Research Institute, where he named the main auditorium after Dr. C. Subramaniam, paying homage to the architect of the Green Revolution.
The CM launched a colossal combined drinking water project valued at ₹2,119.07 crore, which would provide water supply to three municipalities, eight town panchayats, and 2,452 rural habitations across 11 panchayat unions.
The scale of this project highlighted the government’s aggressive push to solve long-standing agrarian and domestic water crises in the arid pockets of southern Tamil Nadu, he said, adding Sivaganga district witnessed a massive developmental surge through a series of multi-sectoral projects aimed at transforming public infrastructure and rural livelihoods.
