
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu pats successful women SHG members

Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu celebrates International Women’s Day, supports women entrepreneurs, farmers, and achievers.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu participated in State-level celebrations at Markapuram, Prakasam district on Saturday (March 08). He visited all the stalls arranged by women, disbursed loans to members of self-help groups (SHGs) and interacted with the women achievers as well as the representatives of various NGOs.
Minister for Women and Child Welfare Gummadi Sandhya Rani, Minister for Endowments Anam Ramanarayana Reddy accompanied the CM. At a mobile handloom stall, Mr. Naidu purchased a Ponduru cotton saree worth ₹26,400 for his wife after bargaining it at ₹25,000. He appreciated the business skills of the SHG members at the stalls.
He launched a coffee table book ‘Reaching For The Skies’, which contains success stories of 100 SHG women. He released brochure ‘The one Family One Entrepreneur’ for achieving one lakh women entrepreneurs in the State. He felicitated 12 women from different fields including music, dance, media, culture, yoga, education, writing and social service.
The CM lauded the efforts of the women farmers, who were trained in natural farming and earning income of lakhs of rupees. As many as 10.68 lakh women farmers were trained by Rythu Sadhikara Samstha, a community managed natural farming programme. Around 12.38 lakh acres of agricultural land has been brought under natural farming, in the State.
