BRS spent ₹1.81 lakh crore for projects without adding anything to ayacut: Uttam
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the BRS government spent ₹1.81 lakh crore on irrigation projects, including Kaleshwaram, Sitarama Lift Irrigation project, and Palamuru Ranga Reddy project, but failed to bring any significant increase in ayacut.
“The BRS spent ₹27,000 crore on Palamuru-Rangareddy Project, and Rs 9,000 crore on the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project, and nearly Rs 1 lakh crore on the Kaleshwaram. The Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages collapsed due to poor design, poor construction, and poor operation and maintenance,” he said.
He questioned BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao’s sincerity.
“The BRS leaders were more interested in commissions than in serving farmers,” he charged while speaking alongside Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy at the foundation-laying ceremony for the additional block at Nalgonda Collectorate on Monday.
He also accused Mr. Rao of betraying Telangana’s farmers by agreeing to just 299 TMCs of Krishna waters during bifurcation, causing huge injustice to Telangana. Today, the Congress government is fighting to secure Telangana’s rightful share, he said.
Taking a strong swipe at Mr. Rao, he said, “Since losing power, Mr. Rao has not attended even a single session of the Assembly. He is afraid to face the elected representatives. But he comes to public meetings like in Warangal to spread lies and cover up his failures.”
