
British Deputy High Commissioner visits Medaram Jatara

British Deputy High Commissioner Gareth Wynn Owen visits Medaram's Sammakka-Saralamma Maha Jatara, participating in traditional rituals and learning about its significance.
A large number of devotees continue to visit Sammakka-Saralamma Maha Jatara in Medaram, Mulugu district of Telangana. Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner, visited the tribal shrine and offered prayers on Friday (January 31, 2026). Dressed in traditional handloom attire, he participated in the Thulabaram ritual. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Minister Seethakka and the District Collector T.S. Diwakara briefed him on the significance of the Medaram Maha Jatara and the arrangements made for devotees, as per a press note.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
