Bomb threat to school in Mangaluru turns out to be a hoax

A bomb threat at Lourdes Central School in Mangaluru was confirmed as a hoax after a thorough police search.
The Mangaluru City police carried out a thorough search at the Lourdes Central School in Mangaluru following receipt of a mail threatening an explosion, on February 26 morning. The threat turned out to be a hoax.
According to police, the mail landed in the mail box of the school principal around 4 a.m. School authorities informed the nearby Mangaluru East police.
Police rushed to the school with a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad around 10 a.m. They searched the entire premises. They went through footage of CCTV cameras in the school. The search was called off around 1 p.m. after the police concluded that the threat was a hoax, police stated.
Ten days ago, an email was sent threatening explosion in courts in Mangaluru, Hubballi and two other places. The police checked the premises and found the threat to be a hoax.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
