Biden signs bill to counter spike in anti-Asian hate crime

President Joe Biden on Thursday, May 20, 2021, signed legislation to curtail a dramatic rise inand Pacific Islanders and expressed pride that lawmakers who seem to agree on little else came together against hate and racism. Mr. Biden lavished praise on Democrats and Republicans for approving the bill by lopsided margins and sending it to the White House for his signature. Several dozen lawmakers attended the bill signing ceremony, one of the largest groups to visit Mr. Biden at the White House during the pandemic.

For the last few weeks, several wards in Madurai city have been getting piped drinking water through a new drinking water scheme. The sweetness of the generously supplied water has led to loss of business to several suppliers of canned drinking water in the city. But, not many know that the water supplied to the houses in Madurai is directly drawn from Lower Dam of Mullaperiyar Dam in Idukki district of Kerala.
