Bank employees’ strike hits normal operations
Employees and officers of public sector banks in Tiruchi struck work on Tuesday heeding a nation-wide strike call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions demanding implementation of five-day work in a week. The strike hit normal banking operations in the public sector banks with no cash and financial transactions taking place, said banking sources.
Employees and officers owing allegiance to the All India Bank Employees Association, All India Bank Officers Confederation, All India Bank Officers Association, National Confederation of Bank Employees and Bank Employees Federation of India resorted to the strike in Tiruchi.
A section of bank employees staged a demonstration in front of State Bank of India main branch in Tiruchi city in the morning in support of their demand.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said here on Tuesday that the police will consider booking those causing death by drink and drive, and by allowing minors to drive, for the offence of culpable homicide (not amounting to murder). They are also contemplating barricading highway medians across the commissionerate to dissuade pedestrians from jaywalking, he said.
