Ban on entry of Kaneri mutt seer to Vijayapura district for two months

Vijayapura Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate K. Anand issued an order, under BNSS 163, prohibiting the seer’s entry into the district from October 16 to December 14. This is based on a police report on the statements made by the seer made at a public rally in Bilur in Maharashtra. The seer allegedly used abusive language against Lingayat seers who are seeking recognition for Lingayat religion. He also said the seers deserve to be beaten with slippers.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
