Armed gang murders rowdy sheeter Pavan Kumar in front of his mother; police launch manhunt for the fleeing assailants.
A 25-year-old rowdy sheeter was hacked to death by a group of armed assailants in front of his mother at Amarajyothi Layout in Thanisandra in Bengaluru on Wedneday (February 25, 2026) evening. Police have launched an intensive search to nab the accused, who are absconding.
The deceased has been identified as Pavan Kumar (25), a history-sheeter listed at the DJ Halli police station.
According to police, six assailants arrived on three motorcycles wearing helmets, and attacked Pavan Kumar while he was standing outside his house in Amarajyothi Layout. The attackers allegedly used lethal weapons and assaulted him, killing him on the spot before fleeing.
His mother, who witnessed the attack, reportedly screamed for help and tried to save her son, but the assailants overpowered her and escaped.
On receiving information, Sampigehalli police went to the spot, conducted a preliminary inspection and registered a case.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was committed due to old enmity. Police said special teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
