Andhra Pradesh Home Minister condemns attack on MPDO, promises legal action against YSRCP members involved in assault.
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha expressed strong condemnation over the recent attack on Galiveedu MPDO Jawahar Babu in Annamayya district, assuring strict legal action against the perpetrators.
Speaking to Mr. Jawahar Babu over the phone on Saturday (December 28, 2024), State Home Minister Anitha expressed solidarity and promised full government support. “The coalition government takes this incident seriously. Attacking an official on duty is an outrageous act and will not be tolerated,” she stated.
Referring to the alleged involvement of YSRCP leaders in the attack, Ms. Anitha criticised their “arrogance and dominance,” highlighting that such incidents indicate their disregard for law and order. She also expressed anger over the reported physical assault, including derogatory language and threats, saying, “Those responsible for this brutal behavior will face the consequences under the law.”
Home Minister Anitha held discussions with Annamayya district SP Vasana Vidhya Sagar Naidu to gather details about the incident. The SP informed her that preliminary investigations indicate the involvement of 20 individuals associated with the YSRCP. Several suspects have already been detained, and further legal action is under way.
Ms. Anitha also issued a stern warning against unruly behaviour, stating, “We will not hesitate to open rowdy sheets against those engaging in violence and unlawful acts.”
The government has assured enhanced security for Mr. Jawahar Babu and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding officials on duty.
