Maharashtra records 155 more deaths; active cases cross 4.5 lakh; Mumbai reports spike of 9,879 cases
There was no let-up in Maharashtra’s case spike on Monday as the State recorded a huge surge of 47,288 new COVID-19 cases, pushing its active case tally past the 4.50 lakh mark to reach 4,51,375. A total of 155 deaths (123 of which were reported in the last 48 hours, while the rest were from an earlier period) took the total toll to 56,033. In contrast to the spike, just 26,252 patients were discharged. The State’s recovery rate has now dipped to 83.38%. While the total tally has reached 30,57,885, the cumulative recoveries stand at 25,49,075. “Of a total of 2,07,15,793 laboratory samples tested thus far, 30,57,885 (with the average case positivity rising to 14.76%) have returned positive with over 1.75 lakh samples being tested in the last 24 hours,” said State Surveillance Officer Dr. Pradeep Awate. The State’s case fatality rate has incrementally dipped to 1.83%.More Related News
