2,760 new COVID-19 cases in Kozhikode

3,912 patients recover; test positivity rate at 24.82%
The number of COVID-19 cases in Kozhikode recorded a dip on Friday with 2,760 persons testing positive for SARS-CoV-2. Among the new patients, 2,694 contracted the disease through local transmission while the source of infection could not be traced in 61 cases. Five persons had come from other States. As many as 11,560 persons were tested on Friday and the test positivity rate is 24.82%. Meanwhile, 3,912 patients have recovered. At present, there are 45,115 COVID-19 patients in the district.A crowd comprising farmers, researchers, professors, students, and horticulture enthusiasts thronged the ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru, on Friday for the inaugural ceremony of the Triphal Diversity Show which showcased 300 mango, 100 jackfruit, and 100 banana genotypes in collaboration with ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana, Tiruchirappalli.
The State government on Friday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Additional Director-General of Police, Manish Kharbikar of the Economic Offences division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to probe the alleged multi-crore scam in the government-run Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
