₹400 crore allocated to build houses for construction workers, says TNCWWB chairman

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin allocates ₹400 crore for housing construction workers in Tamil Nadu, benefiting 104 workers in Namakkal.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has allocated ₹400 for constructing houses for the construction workers on Tuesday, Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board (TNCWWB) chairman, Pon. Kumar said on Tuesday.
Mr. Pon. Kumar participated in a review meeting at the Namakkal Collectorate regarding the implementation of social protection schemes for construction workers in the district. During the meeting, he distributed welfare assistance worth ₹28.88 lakh among 43 beneficiaries. District Collector S. Uma presided over the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the TNCWWB chairperson hailed the welfare measures adopted by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to benefit all sections of society.
“Over the past 10 years, the Chief Minister has introduced numerous schemes for construction workers. These include an increase in the compensation for workers who die on the job from ₹5 lakh to ₹8 lakh, as well as a doubling of the financial assistance available for marriage, education, medical care, and maternity. Additionally, the government will cover the full educational expenses for the children of construction workers who are studying medicine. Mr. Stalin also announced the establishment of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in seven locations, which will provide hostel facilities to benefit the children of construction workers,” Mr. Kumar added.
Stating that a government function will be conducted in Namakkal to provide welfare assistance for 1,000 construction workers, Mr. Kumar said that the Chief Minister allocated ₹400 crore for constructing houses for construction workers across the state and ₹4 lakh each would be provided to the workers for constructing houses. In Namakkal district, 104 construction workers got orders for constructing houses, Mr. Kumar added.
Rajya Sabha member K.R.N. Rajeshkumar, Namakkal Corporation Mayor D. Kalanithi, and officials from concerned departments participated in the meeting.
