A viral video featuring a Rapido auto driver returning the national flag to a child during the Republic Day celebrations has gone viral.
A small act of respect for the national flag became one of the most heartwarming moments on social media on the 77th Republic Day. The clip shared online captured how an everyday commute turned into a quiet lesson in dignity and patriotism, thanks to the thoughtful gesture of a Rapido auto driver and the innocent joy of a little girl.
Shared on X by Ananya Singh, the clip shows a young girl leaning out of a car window, joyfully waving a small Indian flag. As the car moves, the flag accidentally slips from her hand and falls onto the road. What happens next has won the internet’s affection. The Rapido auto driver travelling with Singh immediately stops, steps out, carefully picks up the fallen flag, wipes it clean, and gently hands it back to the child. The girl’s face lights up as she resumes waving the tricolour, matching the driver’s warm smile.
Describing the moment, Singh wrote, “Saw a very cute proud moment with my Rapido driver today. A very cute girl waving the tricolour dropped it. When my captain got out, cleaned it and returned with so much love, the smile both had.”

The video struck a chord especially as it surfaced around Republic Day, when the nation reflects on its shared values. Many users said the clip captured the essence of patriotism better than any speech, through respect for the flag and kindness towards a child.

Amid a dire energy crisis triggered by the choking of the Strait of Hormuz, Islamabad has cancelled the celebrations and the parade scheduled for Pakistan Day. The March 23 observance will now be marked with "simplicity and dignity", said Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif's office, as fuel shortages and soaring costs hit the people hard.
