Expect Iran to become more hardline: Geopolitical expert and author Fareed Zakaria reflects on aftermath of US-Israel strikes
Geopolitical expert Fareed Zakaria, in an exclusive interview with India Today TV, analysed the implications of Israel and the US targeting Iran’s top leadership amid the ongoing military conflict. He said these strikes are decapitation the country's top leadership and are likely to push the Iranian regime toward a more hardline and militarised stance, potentially intensifying tensions across the region.
"It does appear that Israel is targeting one-by-one the entire leadership structure of the Iranian state. People who want negotiations are not the ones who take charge after enduring such attacks," Zakaria explained. "What this means is that the regime will get more and more hardline".
He noted that the rise of Mojtaba Khamenei, backed by the Revolutionary Guards, signals a shift toward a military-dominated, authoritarian system with a clerical facade.
