A video recorded by a train passenger travelling on the Awantika Express from Mumbai to Ujjain shows how air conditioning vents in a compartment have been taped shut.
It wasn’t a technical glitch or a railway fault, just tape. A passenger travelling in an AC coach aboard the Awantika express operating from Mumbai to Ujjain uncovered a strange reason behind the rising heat, and the internet can’t believe it.
The viral video shared by Ujjain resident Sangeeta Tiwari has sparked outrage online after she revealed a bizarre discovery inside an Indian Railways coach. While travelling, Sangeeta noticed that the air conditioning in her compartment wasn’t working as expected.
Upon closer inspection, Sangeeta discovered that the AC vents had been deliberately taped shut by previous passengers. The makeshift covering had effectively blocked the airflow, causing the temperature inside the coach to rise and making the journey uncomfortable for everyone on board.
In the video, she is seen removing the tape from the vents, restoring the airflow and calling attention to the unusual act. Her clip quickly gained traction on social media, racking up millions of views and sparking a wave of reactions.

Many users expressed frustration over what they described as a lack of basic civic sense. The video was widely shared on X, where one caption read, “People who do this must be severely punished. Taping vents? Seriously? Carry warm clothing if you know you cannot tolerate AC.”
