Telangana High Court to deliver decision on Pawan Khera's anticipatory bail petition on Friday.
Justice K. Sujana of the Telangana High Court will pronounce orders on Friday (April 10, 2026) in the anticipatory bail petition moved by Delhi-based Congress leader Pawan Khera in a criminal case registered by the Assam Police against him over his allegations that Assam Chief Minister’s wife was possessing three passports.
The Congress leader, who was in Hyderabad, knocked the doors of the Telangana High Court by moving a criminal petition seeking transit anticipatory bail in the case. The plea was taken up for hearing during the post-lunch session on Thursday by the bench of Justice Sujana. Supreme Court senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Telangana High Court senior counsel Ravinder Reddy, presenting arguments on behalf of Mr. Khera, contended that the case registered against their client had ulterior motives and was part of political vendetta.
The Assam High Court Advocate General (AG), Devajit Lon Saikia, said the petition was not maintainable on the ground of territorial jurisdiction since the case was registered in Assam. The documents, including the ADHAAR cards presented by Mr. Khera stating that his wife lived in Hyderabad and he was here in Hyderabad at her house, were misleading. In fact, the petitioner attempted to play fraud on the court, the AG said.
After hearing contentions of both sides, the judge reserved the orders to be pronounced on Friday.
