Cyberabad Police arrest Vizag man for posting abusive comment against actress Renu Desai on Instagram
The cyber crimes wing of the Cyberabad Police arrested a man for posting an abusive comment on a social media platform.
The accused, identified as Idadasu Apparao, a resident of Visakhapatnam, was traced during an investigation into objectionable content posted on Instagram. According to the police, he had viewed a reel featuring actress Renu Desai and posted an abusive remark using a fake account created by him.
Police teams tracked him to Visakhapatnam, where he was apprehended and informed of the charges before being brought to the Cyber Crime Police Station in Gachibowli. During verification, the accused produced the mobile phone used to post the comment.
This comes at a time when the cybercrime wing has been making a series of arrests over abusive and objectionable content posted on social media, particularly targeting actresses. Earlier in March, three individuals were arrested for posting objectionable remarks against actresses Renu Desai and Anasuya Bharadwaj, indicating a growing crackdown on online harassment.
Officials reiterated that posting abusive or defamatory content online can invite legal action under relevant provisions of law. They urged social media users to exercise restraint and behave responsibly on digital platforms, and encouraged citizens to report cyber offences to the nearest cybercrime police station or through the 1930 helpline.
