Priyank Kharge challenges RSS to file a complaint independently against his father, Mallikarjun Kharge, critiques BJP leaders, and addresses key issues in Kalaburagi.
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister and Kalaburagi district in-charge Priyank Kharge on Thursday (April 9, 2026) challenged the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to file a complaint in its own name over the controversy surrounding AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s “vishasarp” (venomous snake) remark, even as he launched a sharp attack on BJP leaders.
Interacting with media persons in Kalaburagi, Mr. Priyank said, “If the RSS is a registered organisation, let it file a complaint on its own letterhead. Why does it seek others’ help? I too am facing cases and we are not deterred by such actions.”
Defending Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement, he said: “Mr. Kharge’s ideology is rooted in the principles of Buddha and Basavanna. He criticises the ideologies opposed to the Constitution. If a venomous snake appears, no one would pour milk on it”.
Mr. Priyank also took aim at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his remarks against Congress leaders, alleging that they were driven by “fear of defeat.” He criticised what he called double standards in BJP’s approach towards minorities and international relations.
Mr. Priyank alleged that the Centre’s economic and foreign policies were responsible for the shortage of LPG and petroleum products in the country.
He said that despite claims of adequate fuel stocks during the West Asia conflict, the Centre invoked the Essential Commodities Act and later appealed to citizens to prepare for crisis, which indicated policy inconsistency.
