Kerala teen missing in Karnataka: Family camps in Chikkamagaluru as search continues

Search continues for a missing Kerala teen in Karnataka as family stays in Chikkamagaluru; police investigate her disappearance.
The operation to search for the 15-year-old girl from Kerala, who went missing near Manikyadhara in Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday (April 7, 2026), continued on Thursday (April 9, 2026) as well. There has been no clue so far of her presence in the locality.
The local police have been searching for her with the help of forest officials and a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Meanwhile, a team of police officials from Kerala visited Chikkamagaluru to collect information about the missing case from the local police.
The girl was on a trip to Karnataka with her family members. Her uncle, Sasikumar from Palakkad, filed a complaint with Chikkamagaluru Rural Police.
In his complaint, Sasikumar stated that he and family members were on a trip to Bababudangiri in Chikkamagaluru on April 7, when his niece went missing near Manikyadhara. She is five feet tall, has a wheatish complexion and was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans. She can speak Malayalam and English. He and the relatives searched the surroundings for her with the help of local people; however, she could not be traced.
The family remains stationed in Chikkamagaluru as the search continues. In addition to combing Manikyadhara and its vicinity, police are investigating the possibility that the girl got separated from her group and mistakenly departed the site with other tourists.
