Telangana's Deputy CM advocates for AI in revenue departments
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has exhorted the revenue earning departments to extensively utilise modern technologies like artificial intelligence in the efforts towards making the State US $3 trillion economy.
The use of modern technologies and continuous monitoring of tax revenues across departments as well as putting in place systematic administration resulted in increase in the revenues. Adoption of AI technologies helped in enhancing revenue streams like mining and transport. He directed officials to act stringently against illegal sand mining and crusher operations, illegal transportation and overloading.
The Deputy Chief Minister, accompanied by Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao, participated in the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting on Revenue Generation & Resource Mobilization, in Hyderabad on Friday (April 10, 2026). Continuous reviews and strict tax administration resulted in 15% rise in the GST revenue over the past three months and Registration and Stamps department too had registered growth in its revenues. The departments should prepare action plans for revenue mobilisation in line with the target of making the State US $3 trillion economy by 2047.
Mr. Reddy said that land sales under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) should be promoted globally as prior knowledge and outreach would significantly enhance the revenue earning opportunities. The Cabinet sub-committee instructed the Registration and Stamps department to present reports of the committees studying revision of land values to the Cabinet panel so that they could be submitted to the State Cabinet.
Aspects relating to acquisition of Hyderabad Metro Rail, management, revenue and expenditure involved were reviewed at the meeting. In addition, the meeting discussed issues relating to progress in the steps taken to enhance revenue from Excise, Revenue and Industries departments. Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka directed the officials to present action taken reports on the decisions of the Cabinet sub-committee.
