Former V-C of University of Mysore, KSOU attends meet on omics networks in Ethiopia

K.S. Rangappa discusses integrated omics networks at an international panel in Ethiopia, promoting Asia-Africa research collaboration.
K.S. Rangappa, Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences and a noted scientist, recently participated in an international panel discussion in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, focusing on strengthening research collaboration between Asia and Africa.
The discussion, titled ‘The Role of Integrated Omics Networks in Achieving Asia–Africa Research Goals’, was hosted at Addis Ababa University. It was jointly organised by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Bio and Emerging Technology (BETin), and CDT-Africa.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore and KSOU, Mysuru, emphasised that integrated omics networks extend beyond technological advancement. “They build bridges of connectivity, promote equity, and help uncover solutions tailored to the unique challenges of Asia and Africa. If implemented effectively, they can bring significant transformation to the global scientific landscape,” he said.
The panel featured several experts, including Siddabasave Gowda from Japan, Habtom Ressom, Samuel Kifle, Molalegn, and H. Hino. The session was moderated by Solomon from Ethiopia. According to a press release, the discussion is expected to serve as a key platform for enhancing Asia–Africa scientific collaboration and fostering innovation-driven partnerships.
