Part-time research scholars from Telugu States protest at Andhra University for redressal of demands, seeking government intervention.
As many 60 part-time research scholars from Telugu States (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) protested at the Andhra University Vice-Chancellor’s office on the university campus here on Monday for the redressal of their demands.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Sheikh Moulali, one of the research students, said that a total of 679 part-time research schools have been admitted through Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test(APRCET) in 2019. They are scholars in the disciplines of Arts, Commerce, Science & Technology and Engineering. Candidates with at least 5 years of teaching experience have been admitted through APRCET, he added.
“Almost five years have passed. The authorities have not conducted the pre-PhD examinations. As per the rule, the examination was supposed to be conducted 18 months after admissions and the viva examination was supposed to be conducted in the 5th year, but neither of those happened. So, we are all worried about our future,” said Mr. Moulali.
He said they have met Telugu Desam Party president Palla Srinivasa Rao and North Andhra MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao to bring their problems to the attention of the State government.
“We will soon meet Higher Education Minister Nara Lokesh as well to convey our difficulties. We hope that our problems are genuine and the authorities will respond positively,” said Mr. Moulali.
