Underling the hard work and dedication of B.R. Ambedkar in drafting the Indian Constitution, Subhashchandra Rathod, Professor of Practice at the Department of Law at Central University of Karnataka (CUK), said that every Article in the Indian Constitution reflects Ambedkar’s thoughts.

“B.R. Ambedkar played a crucial role in the framing of our Constitution. He had undergone severe humility and suffering in his life due to the social evils of our society. He made sure that future generations should not face the suffering he had undergone. It with this determination that he framed each Article in our Constitution keeping the most disadvantaged man in mind,” he said at the 68th Mahaparinirvan Diwas observed at CUK on Friday to commemorate the death anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

“It is a very unfortunate situation that we are not able to implement the spirit of the Constitution in letter and spirit. Social evils like discrimination, corruption, women harassment, and crimes are increasing and people are being deprived of their rights. Our schools, colleges and parents should inculcate ethics, morality, and honesty among children and make responsible citizens. Otherwise, the future will be very gloomy,” he said.

CUK Vice-Chancellor Battu Satyanarayan, who presided over the event, recalled how Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was defeated in the Parliamentary election and termed the development as unfortunate. “It is very unfortunate that we did not elect the architect of our Constitution to the Parliament. He lost two Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Registrar R.R. Biradar termed B.R. Ambedkar as a champion of humans and his model of development as an essential component to achieve Vikasit Bharat by 2047. “Equity and social justice, eradication of caste-based and gender-based discrimination, education as a tool of empowerment, economic justice, women empowerment, labour rights and political representation are the tools that Dr. Ambedar devised to achieve sustainable development,” he said.

Devarajappa, Sailaj Konek, Nitin B., Swapnil Chapekar, G.R. Angadi, M.S. Pasodi, Ramdorai, Kota Sai Krishna, P.S. Kattimani, A.N. Vijayakumar, Panduranga Patti, Basavaraj Kubakaddi and other teaching and non-teaching faculty members were present.
