Governor launches ‘Saksham 2020’ awareness campaign on saving oil and gas
Governor R. N. Ravi on Monday launched “Saksham 2020”, a month-long mass awareness campaign on oil and gas conservation.
He said: “We must remember that we have a moral responsibility to our future generations to provide them a healthy environment and a sustainable future. I appeal to all of you to come together and contribute earnestly towards this mission of fuel conservation.”
He inaugurated an exhibition of paintings by schoolchildren and flagged off a publicity van, which would travel across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry spreading the message of fuel conservation.
Executive Director Tamil Nadu and State coordinator for oil industry P. Jayadevan said the campaign included various events such as public auto emission checks, bicycle day, cyclothon, debates, fuel efficiency drive and training for LPG delivery boys.

Santhosh Kumar, Chief Regional Co-ordinator, PCRA - Southern Region; Pushp Kumar Nayyar, Head (Retail), South – BPCL; Sanjay Mathur, Zonal Head - South Zone, HPCL; and Rajiv Lochan Pal, Zonal General Manager, GAIL; were present.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
