Collector inaugurates a workshop in Krishnagiri to promote gender equity under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padao Scheme.
A workshop on the Beti Bachao-Beti Padao (Protect the Girl Child-Educate the Girl Child) Scheme, under the aegis of the Department of Social Welfare and women’s rights began in Krishnagiri on Tuesday (February 24, 2026). The three-day workshop conceived as an orientation on gender protective legislations and protocols on addressing crimes against women and children.
Inaugurating the workshop, Collector C. Dinesh Kumar said, the scheme was implemented in 2022 to address gender equity and inequity in sex ratio.
Gender equity entailed safe workspaces, residence and empathetic extension of the law to protect from and address crimes against women and children, the Collector said.
He added that the seminar would witness the participation of over 50 government officials and non-governmental personnel to create a functioning structure to address questions on gender equity.
