TGSPDCL assistant engineer caught accepting ₹16,000 bribe
An Assistant Engineer (Operations) of the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹16,000 in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The accused official was identified as Mamidisetti Srinivasa Rao, working in Masab Tank Section. According to the ACB, the bribe was sought from the complainant to avoid initiating coercive action in connection with a seized electricity meter.
The tainted bribe amount of ₹16,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused. He was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB Cases in Nampally for judicial remand. Further investigation is under way. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB has urged members of the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants by contacting its toll-free helpline 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through its official social media platforms and other communication channels, with assurances that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
