
Konkan Railway and NCW conduct anti-human trafficking seminar

NCW and Konkan Railway host seminar to enhance anti-human trafficking efforts and train railway personnel on prevention and response.
The National Commission for Women (NCW), in association with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL), conducted a seminar cum capacity building workshop on anti-human trafficking at Madgaon on Monday.
The workshop was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional mechanisms and enhance preparedness among railway and enforcement personnel to effectively prevent and respond to incidents of human trafficking. NCW member Delina Khongdup, Goa State Women’s Commission chairperson Ranjita Pai, KRCL regional railway manager Karwar — Asha Shetty, and others attended the event.
The workshop aimed to strengthen institutional capacity and sensitise stakeholders on the prevention, identification, and effective response to human trafficking cases, particularly within railway premises and transit points.
The sessions focused on understanding trafficking indicators, victim identification, legal provisions, rescue protocols, and the importance of inter-agency coordination. Emphasis was also laid on the role of railway personnel, RPF staff, and associated stakeholders in acting as the first line of defence in detecting suspicious movements and reporting cases promptly.
RPF Commandant cum Regional Security Commissioner Yash Mishra and others were present.
