
Experts discuss advances in gynaecological oncology at meet in Puducherry

Over 100 doctors gathered in Puducherry to discuss advancements in breast and gynaecological oncology at the IC-CON 2026 conference.
Over 100 doctors from hospitals across the region discussed new advancements in breast and gynaecological oncology at a recent conference in the city.
The “IC-CON 2026”, hosted by Iswarya Hospital, an oncology specialty centre on OMR in Chennai, aimed to create vital awareness regarding gynaecological malignancies, modern diagnostic methods, and evolving treatment options, empowering the local medical community with knowledge for earlier diagnoses and improved patient outcomes. A key focus of the conference was on Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) and Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS).
Inaugurating the day-long meet, S. Rajasundaram, Director of Iswarya Cancer Centre and CEO of Iswarya Hospital, said the hospital would share insights on life-saving procedures, such as CRS and HIPEC which have become the standard of care for locally advanced ovarian cancer and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei.
According to Arun Muthuvel, Managing Director, Iswarya Hospital, the experts from the institution would also share their experience in high-risk surgical care.
Deepa Chegu, who is among the multidisciplinary team of health experts at the meet, spoke on improving diagnostic confidence in breast cancer and the role of 3D mammography. Ruthrendra highlighted HIPEC in gynaecological cancers, while Varadharajan shared molecular insights from MDT to management and its implications in endometrial cancer.
Sessions on precision radiation in gynaecological cancers, immunotherapy in gynaecological cancers and a video session on SLNB and robotic staging for endometrial cancer were the highlights.
