(the maximum level is 71 ft.) with an inflow of 1,401 cusecs and a discharge of 1,199 cusecs. Combined storage in Periyar credit was 4,534.59 mcft. Rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Saturday was (in mm): Chittampatti 5.2, Kallandiri 5, Madurai 3.4, Thaniyamangalam 3 and Viraganur 1.2.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday pledged to mobilise people in resistance against the BJP-led Union government’s “anti-agricultural worker, anti-farmer, anti-worker, anti-people” laws and policies till they are all repealed, the party said on Friday.
