The Karnataka government gave administrative approval for all the 147 taluk hospitals in the State to establish cryoprecipitate, or Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP), in the blood storage units, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced in a social media post on February 13.
This move is aimed at preventing postpartum hemorrhage, according to the Government Order shared by the Minister.
The order said that the cause of about 20% of deaths of new mothers is postpartum hemorrhage. “FFP is a blood component that contains pro-cogulent factors, which help control bleeding,” it added.
