Tamil Nadu Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin launches educational schemes and infrastructure projects in Chennai, benefiting students and residents.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has introduced several schemes for education such as Naan Mudhalvan, Uyarvukku Padi, Illam Thedi Kalvi, Vaanavil Mandram, Ennum Ezhuthum, and several art and literature contests for students, said Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday.
He said this at an event of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) and Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewage Board (CMWSSB) at the Ripon Buildings complex, where he inaugurated 28 completed projects worth ₹1,893 crore, laid the foundation stone for 87 new projects, launched 58 new vehicles, and distributed educational welfare assistance and compassionate appointment orders to school students.
Addressing the gathering, he added that the State government was taking efforts towards the development of Chennai Corporation, an example for several civic bodies across the country, to the next level.
The Deputy CM inaugurated 28 completed projects worth ₹449.44 crores, including school buildings, sports grounds, kitchens, parks, community welfare centres, multipurpose buildings, football grounds, gas crematoriums, drinking water supply, and underground drainage projects. He launched 58 vehicles, including dog-catching vehicles, mini trucks, and bobcat vehicles worth ₹13.35 crores. Further, he distributed compassionate appointment orders to 60 legal heirs of employees who had passed away while serving in the Greater Chennai Corporation.
Educational welfare assistance worth ₹1.24 crores was provided to 2,258 Chennai school students and teachers, including laptops, bicycles, uniforms, notebooks, and scholarships.
Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Minister K.N. Nehru, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma. Subramanian, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P.K. Sekar Babu, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, Members of Parliament and Principal Secretary of the MAWS Department D. Karthikeyan, GCC Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran, and Managing Director of Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board T.G. Vinay, were among those present.
