Summer camps are offering children in Tiruchi an opportunity to recharge and pick up new skills with a host of activities in the coming weeks.
In recent years, sports turf clubs have made it possible for residents of all ages to take up football, cricket, and other games in customised premises in and around Tiruchi.
Kia’s Premium Turf, based in Ariyamangalam and Turf 45 Football Academy in K.K. Nagar have teamed up to offer lessons in football this year.
Kia’s Premium Turf will be conducting camps in silambam, karate, and archery at its Ariyamangalam premises.
“Children aged 5 to 18 can join the camps, which will be held until May 31. Those who want to take up the sports in earnest after the vacations, can continue with regular classes,” M. Syed Anwar, manager, told The Hindu.
The exposure gained during the camps will help children prepare for competitive events in schools, said Mr. Anwar. “To keep the participants safe from the daytime heat, we will be holding the camps after sunset and early in the morning,” he said.
For children looking to take up creative hobbies such as tie-dye, tote bag printing, pottery and mosaic art, Dreamy Crafts will be holding camps in two batches, from April 21 to 27 and May 5 to 11 on its premises in Karumandapam.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
