Kaveri B. Pai, 67, who was travelling on Train No. 16228 from Srirangapatna to KSR Bengaluru, inadvertently left behind her handbag while alighting at KSR Bengaluru.
The handbag, containing cash and jewellery, was promptly noticed by Kalabai, the travelling ticket examiner on duty on the train. She secured the bag and handed it over to the Chief Ticket Inspector in Mysuru.
The handbag was later returned to its rightful owner, Ms. Kaveri, in Mysuru in the presence of R. Chandrashekar and V. Nandakumar, chief ticket inspectors, according to a press release.
Expressing relief and gratitude, Ms. Kaveri thanked the railway staff for their swift action and integrity in ensuring the safe return of her belongings. “The incident highlights the commitment and professionalism of railway staff in safeguarding passenger property and delivering exemplary service,” said Girish Dharmaraj Kalagonda, divisional commercial manager, Mysuru Railway Division.
