PM Modi is invited to inaugurate the soon-to-be-completed ₹850 crore mega dairy in Hassan, confirms H.D. Revanna.
The general body meeting of Hassan Cooperative Milk Producers’ Society Union (HAMUL), convened in Hassan on Friday (March 13), resolved to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the mega dairy, being constructed on the outskirts of Hassan by investing over ₹850 crore.
The decision was taken at the meeting convened under the chairmanship of union president and former Minister H.D. Revanna.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Revanna sought the approval of the members to invite Mr. Modi, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, for the inauguration. The members gave approval.
Later, speaking to the media, Mr. Revanna said that construction of the mega dairy began in 2017–18 and it is about to be completed. The mega dairy will come up on 66 acres of land in the Holenarasipur Assembly constituency. “The work is almost complete. We are planning a theme park at the entrance, and it is expected to be completed in a month and a half. All machines from Germany have been installed, and a trial run will be done. For the machines alone, we have spent ₹290 crore," he stated.
Mr. Revanna said that the tender process of all the works had been handled by the Karnataka Milk Federation. “HAMUL had no role in the grant of work and tender process. This will be one of the best dairies in the country. HAMUL has spent ₹400 crore for the unit, and the National Dairy Development Board offered a loan of ₹350 crore," he stated.
The programme for the inauguration would be held after May 20 this year. All 1.10 lakh milk producers of the union will be invited to the programme. “The members will participate with a dress code and celebrate the occasion as a festival,” he informed the media.
