Panchayat secretary in Jogulamba Gadwal arrested for accepting a ₹15,000 bribe for housing scheme payments.
A panchayat secretary from Jogulamba Gadwal district was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 for processing housing scheme payments.
According to the ACB, the accused officer, Boya Ranganna, who serves as the panchayat secretary of Eklaspur village in Ieeja mandal, was apprehended on Friday, March 13, 2026. at the office of the Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) in Ieeja mandal. The accused had demanded the bribe from a complainant in exchange for releasing the first instalment of the Indiramma housing scheme bill related to the construction of a house in the name of the complainant’s wife. The money was also allegedly sought to ensure sanction of the remaining three instalments without interruption.
Officials said that the accused had initially demanded ₹20,000 for clearing the four instalments of the housing benefit at the rate of ₹5,000 each. However, following the complainant’s request, the amount was reduced to ₹15,000. The tainted amount was recovered from the accused at his instance. He was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad. Further investigation in the case is underway, while the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
