Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Pinarayi is Kerala’s Modi, says Supriya Shrinate

Supriya Shrinate likens Kerala's CM Pinarayi Vijayan to Modi, criticizing both for suppressing dissent and manipulating protests.
AICC social media and digital communication chairperson Supriya Shrinate on Saturday called Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan “Kerala’s Modi,” saying that both were aces at suppressing voices of dissent.
Addressing mediapersons at the KPCC headquarters here, Ms. Shrinate said Mr. Vijayan imitates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s style in election campaigning. Mr. Modi campaigns by raising his huge flex boards across the country and when one comes to Kerala, all that one sees around are huge flex boards of Mr. Vijayan, she said.
Mr. Vijayan is a true copy of Mr. Modi not just in propaganda, but when it comes to silencing the voices of the Opposition as well, Ms. Shrinate alleged. The Constitution guarantees citizens the right to protest and freely express their opinion. However, both Mr. Modi at the Centre and Mr. Vijayan in Kerala have been suppressing all voices of dissent by filing false cases and using the police to repress them, she said.
She alleged that those who waved black flags at the Chief Minister were slapped with attempt to murder charges by the police, and that a protest against Health Minister Veena George was manipulated into an attempt to murder case purely for political gains.
All these efforts by the Left government to do away with those who dare to protest are being watched by the people of Kerala and their response will be reflected strongly in the results of the Assembly election, she added.
Ms. Shrinate said that the people of Kerala are going to the polls to write a clear verdict against the decade-long misrule by the Pinarayi Vijayan government and they will bring the UDF back to power with over 100 seats.
