
Man arrested on burglary charges, stolen jewellery worth ₹14 lakh recovered

Brahmavara Police arrest K. Praveen Kumar for burglary, recovering ₹14 lakh in stolen jewellery and ₹7,500 in cash.
The Brahmavara Police in Udupi district have arrested a resident of Barkur town on charges of house break and theft in the town and have recovered ₹14 lakh worth of jewellery as well as ₹7,500 in cash allegedly stolen by him.
The police gave the name of the accused as K. Praveen Kumar, resident of Barkur village, Brahmavara taluk.
Complainant M. Manjunath Rao, 77, resident of Heradi village, Brahmavara taluk, told the police that he, along with his wife, had left home on the night of March 6 to watch the Nagamandala at Barkur. When they returned home, the complainant found that the front door of the house was broken open by miscreants. The almairah too was broken into. Several gold and silver jewellery items, worth ₹14.67 lakh, and ₹49,000 in cash, were found missing.
Brahmavara Police registered a case and began investigating under the guidance of Udupi Deputy Superintendent of Police K.U. Belliyappa, Brahmavara Circle Inspector of Police K. Gopikrishna, Police Sub-Inspector Ashok Malabagi and others.
