Anbil Mahesh and R. Manoharan among key candidates filing nominations for Tiruchi district Assembly elections.
Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and former Government Chief Whip R. Manoharan were among the prominent candidates who filed their nominations for the Assembly elections in Tiruchi district on Saturday.
Mr. Mahesh, 48, the DMK’s Tiruchi south district secretary, filed his nomination for the Tiruverumbur constituency. He was accompanied by Durai Vaiko, Tiruchi MP, and functionaries of the alliance parties.
Mr. Mahesh, who is contesting for the third time from the seat, has declared movable assets worth about ₹1.48 crore in his name, ₹3.36 crore in his wife’s name and ₹2.15 crore in his mother’s name. The self-acquired immovable assets in his name were worth ₹3.57 crore and those in his wife’s and mother’s names were worth ₹6.75 crore and ₹1.10 crore, respectively, at current market value, according to the affidavit filed by the Minister.

The AIADMK’s R. Manoharan, former government chief whip, filed his nomination for the Srirangam Assembly constituency. Mr. Manoharan, 70, has declared movable assets worth ₹1.25 crore in his name and ₹1.21 crore in his wife’s name and immovable self acquired assets worth ₹1.60 crore in his name and ₹6.01 crore in his wife’s name at current market value.
In Tiruchi East, S. Inigo Irudayaraj, fielded by the DMK, and G. Rajasekaran of the AIADMK filed their nominations.
