62 candidates file nominations on the third day in Erode district

Sixty-two candidates file nominations for eight Assembly constituencies in Erode district ahead of the April 2026 elections.
A total of 62 candidates filed 75 nominations to contest in eight Assembly constituencies in the district on the third day of nomination filing for the Assembly election here on Saturday (April 4, 2026).
The number of nominations filed in each constituency was as follows: Erode (East) – eight; Erode (West) – 10; Modakkurichi – 11; Perundurai – eight; Bhavani – 10; Anthiyur – seven; Gobichettipalayam – 16; and Bhavanisagar (Reserved) – five. Of the 62 candidates, 41 were men and 21 were women.
S. Kirthika of the BJP filed her nomination for the Modakkurichi Assembly constituency. She declared movable assets worth ₹5.32 crore in her name and ₹4.43 crore in the name of her husband, C. Shivkumar. She also declared immovable assets worth ₹9.49 crore in her name and ₹40.68 crore in her husband’s name. Her liabilities were declared at ₹1.59 crore in her name and ₹1.39 crore in her husband’s name. Similarly, K.K. Anand Mohan of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam filed his nomination for the Erode (West) Assembly constituency.
Nominations can be filed till the final day, April 6. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 7, and nominations can be withdrawn till 3 p.m. on April 9. Polling is scheduled for April 23.
